Chile & I remember you. Amanda
In this book, “Chile & Te recuerdo Amanda”, which was created as a gift for her family and origins, the artist expresses her ideas in a particularly harrowing style, using Indian ink, red paint and blue anilines. It is printed on 160-gramme paper called Conqueror Bamboo. The work makes use of the lyrics of Victor Jara’s song, “Te recuerdo Amanda” to try to sweeten the memory of a bitter experience: the coup d’état in Chile on 11th September 1973.
The author’s ideals have led her to create a series of illustrations charged with social content, to champion the idea – shared by so many other artists – that living life through one’s senses is the best thing in the world. Music and image are transformed into emotions that shake the spectator to the core.
This book is a little homage to Victor Jara; it has been created for the enjoyment of everyone who loves his songs and his deep empathy for the rural and urban workers of Chile and the rest of the world.
