Five Views of engraving for a poet
Luisa García‐Muro, Paloma González, Concha Ibáñez, Anna Rabal and Carmen Riera. These Five Views of Engraving are dedicated to Andrés Javier Villa, a poet, narrator, sculptor and also engraver. One of the factors that influenced this project was that while he was born in Chile, he made his definitive home among us, establishing friendships with Catalan writers and artists and adopting Catalan as his own language. The five artists chose to base this work on a series of metal structures that Andrés Javier Villa created on the subject of the moon, and on one of his poems, also dedicated to the moon (“Seeded with curves and roundness / You are amazement and woman”), and developing each of them in a different way, in accordance with the spirit and formal features of his art.
Five views of engraving which bring together the artistic qualities and the evocative nature of the work of Andrés Javier Villa, and his literary and artistic creativity.
