Why do we call the energy storage devices that we use “batteries” and “dry cells”? Do these names have something to do with the way in which they function? Because they must have something to do with it, and in order to discover that, this presentation will go back in time to a great scientific battle. Thus, we will find out how these devices function and the reasons why it has been so costly to make electric-powered cars, and why there are no plans in existence for building electric-powered boats or aeroplanes. Finally, we will analyse the global energy system, to reveal how a new type of batteries could change all this completely, if it is based on research of a system that uses renewable energies as its main energy source.
