We have been living at First-World speed at the expense of the Earth’s subterranean strata, in the form of coal, oil and natural gas. And now we are experiencing a slow but inexorable re-evolution towards a sustainable model of energy generation, storage, management and consumption. A technological re-evolution that is based on real scientific revolutions, many of which are being developed in research laboratories and require us to understand and monitor the properties of nanometric-sized matter.
