From the pancreas to the lung. Inflammation’s strange routes

Acute pancreatitis is an inflammatory process of the pancreas that was first described in 1889. One of its most serious complications is when the inflammation progresses to distant organs such as the lung; however, the mechanisms that link the initial damage to the pancreas to the pulmonary inflammation are still not entirely understood. The speaker will analyse the difficulties that have been encountered in the search for effective treatments and the new lines of research that are currently ongoing.
