Phylogeography and the conservation of the Mediterranean
The Mediterranean Sea is considered one of our planet’s «hot spots». Both its flora and its fauna contain a very high percentage of endemisms that originated through a complex evolutionary history. Past and present oceanographic processes have determined not only the distribution of its species but also that of their populations. Conservation of the Mediterranean must take into account the way in which these processes act on ecosystems.

Cycle: Series of lectures to commemorate the International Year of Biodiversity
