Quantum physics is a theory that describes the microscopic world and which has given rise to many applications, such as lasers and electronics. However, there are other aspects of this theory that have not been exploited, and which could give rise to a revolution in the processing and transmission of information. In this lecture, Professor Cirac will explain these concepts, their implications for our view of nature, the paradoxes they produce and their applications in the field of communication and information technology.
