The historical roots of Angolan nationalism
The nationalisms in Africa’s old Portuguese colonies have produced a series of specific features that differentiate them from other nationalisms in sub-Saharan Africa. Angolan nationalism added other characteristics to these that particularise them even more. The historical reasons covered in the first part of the lecture reflect many of these specific features. In the second part, the speaker links the nationalist framework with some of the ideas from Angola’s current public policy and development.
