Published for the "Basketery World: A Universal language" exhibition by Barcelona Ethnographic Museum within the "Photographic Sping Exhibition, in collaboration with the Residence for Researchers, held on May 16th to 31st, 2000, at the Residence for Researchers Auditorium.
Barcelona Ethnological Museum (MEB) has got an important photograph archive consisting of mainly images taken by the Museum staff during their own expeditions.
The exhibition holds two main objectives: the recognition of these documents' intrinsic importance along with its photographical value and the recognition of the language itself, which recreates other worlds at once: human typologies, clothing, daily utensils, periods, climates and geographies,... Through them, we recognize part of our roots, and also those of other groups that are increasingly becoming part of our local reality. The diversity represented by this images are translated into a human diversity which becomes real once the exposition is left, among neighbours and shops in Ciutat Vella.
