Espriu, today

Conferences held in October 4, 2003 at Residence for Researchers  / CSIC – Generalitat de Catalunya.

Every literature has its own essential voices, inasmuch because these have assumed the collective voice almost in an absolute way or because they have been able to nourish the sap of literature with singular significance.
Salvador Espriu’s lyric voice, in this way, is unquestionable. Appraising his work means, on the one hand, to discover his influence in some present remarkable writings; but also to reflect on the permanence and presence of our models today and from the distance. Following the specialists and the writer’s will to debate their opinions, the Residence for Researchers wants to join the I Salvador Espriu International Symposium, held on October 1st, 2nd and 3rd, 2003, in Barcelona and Arenys de Mar.  

Getting access to the general vision of the question’s state, we have to approach this work from poetry, prose and playwright and the cultural background as well. We have invited writers and critics to have an updated and revised image. Our intention has also been to transmit all the poets’ voices and the voices of poets of different generations who have undoubtedly recognised Espriu as their teacher or as and important referent during their learning years and who have written plentifully on Espriu’ s present presence.

Through these conferences, the Residence for Researchers wants to consolidate its dedication to the world of literature and show their will to open itself as a new reference in our city cultural milieu.
