Seminar held on March 29. 2003 at the Residence for Researchers CSIC-Generalitat de Catalunya.
This book compiles the II Bioethics and Environment Congress conferences and those from the joint seminar carried out by the Bioethics and Law Observatory and the Residence for Researchers CSIC-Generalitat de Catalunya, at this institution premises, on May 29, 2003, under the title “Ecologic Risks: interdisciplinary and international dialogue”. The meeting objective was to call the attention towards the bioethics implication of the problems that affect the environment and, especially, to the questions and uncertainties set by the international research and the environmental policies.
The different works and discussions are orientated, on the one hand, to find ways of defining and structuring ecologic risks and caution principles to face problems related to public health, as questions rose by transgenics, among others. On the other, to analyse contrasting perspectives between expert systems and risks public distribution and perception, not only in interdisciplinary terms but the relation of different trajectories both in Europe and Latin America, as well.
