Toward a (new?) marine water culture

Ever since Neolithic times, 10,000 years of human history has established relationship patterns between man and the land. With regard to the sea, the situation is different, given the perception that human impact on such an enormous medium is negligible. The ability of technological man to significantly influence the entire planet forces us to consider what real ability man has to change our marine medium, how we should use this ability, and what our objectives should be. Specific examples focused on coastal Mediterranean waters will help us to reflect on a specific subject, the management of which cannot be postponed, and which should be prioritised by marine research centres.
