Towards a new chemistry

As a consequence of Catalonia’s long tradition in the fields of the chemical industry and research, it is now home to a number of international-level research centres.
At present, and based on the study of molecular science and the use of transversal strategies, chemical science in Catalonia is able to tackle and solve many socially and economically important problems. In turn, this sphere is already making a decisive contribution to establishing a knowledge-based economy which in the future will facilitate a social and economic progress that is much more harmonious and respectful of the environment and of the interests of the population and the country.
